Energy Shield window performance ratings

Maintained by Juan Valles, co-owner, Energy Shield Window & Door Company. Last updated October 29, 2026.

This dataset lists the NFRC-certified U-factor, SHGC, visible transmittance, and condensation resistance of Energy Shield's vinyl windows and sliding glass doors. It has 8 rows: the picture window, single hung, and horizontal slider, each with Cardinal LoE³-340+ and LoE³-366 glass (the same ratings for both the ES3000 and ES7000 series), and two sliding glass doors with LoE³-366 glass. All are whole-window ratings. Glass: Cardinal LoE³-340+ (with an LoE-i89 inner pane) or LoE³-366, argon, double-strength 3 mm glass.

Columns

Column Meaning
series ES3000 and ES7000 (windows; both series share these ratings), or the sliding glass door (3800, 5800)
product_type Picture window, single hung, horizontal slider, or sliding glass door
frame_material Vinyl
glass_package Cardinal LoE³-340+ or Cardinal LoE³-366
glazing Insulating glass unit build: dual pane, 90% argon, LoE-i89 inner pane (LoE³-340+) or clear inner pane (LoE³-366), double-strength 3 mm glass
u_factor Whole-window heat flow, Btu/h·ft²·°F, no grids. Lower is better.
shgc Whole-window solar heat gain coefficient, 0 to 1, no grids. Lower lets in less solar heat.
visible_transmittance Whole-window share of visible light let through, 0 to 1, no grids
condensation_resistance 1 to 100, higher is better
u_factor_with_grids, shgc_with_grids, visible_transmittance_with_grids The same ratings with grids between the panes
shgc_under_0.25_maximum_by 0.25 minus the SHGC (no grids): how far the row sits under the IECC maximum for climate zones 0 to 3 (Phoenix metro: 2B)
nfrc_cpd_number The row's NFRC Certified Products Directory number

The glass alone

Cardinal rates LoE³-340+ glass by itself (center-of-glass, dual pane with an LoE-i89 inner pane and argon) at an SHGC of 0.17, a U-factor of 0.20, 38% visible light, and 2% UV. Those numbers leave out the frame and the glass edge, so they are not the whole-window values in this table. For sound, the glass is rated STC 31 / OITC 26 (3 mm glass, about 1/2-inch air space).

How to read it against the code
